92 & beading!

Today was the birthday of someone so dear to me, my Oma (German grandmother). Not only has she been an incredible mother, grandmother & great-grandmother but she has been a huge inspiration to me...and still is. She has always been very creative-everything that she makes is amazing- from her cooking & her cakes to her meticulous crochet projects & my favorite, her beading! It is no wonder I ended up making jewels...I grew up with a jewel box passed down from my mother consisting of many of my Oma's crochet beaded baubles. My favorite were her stretch cocktail rings that I have learnt to make and have been selling at trink for the past few years. And after years of not beading, I was so pleased when she surprised me with a wooden cigar box filled with her crochet beaded necklaces "to sell at your shop, if you can" she said when she gave them to me shortly after I opened trink six years ago- and not only are they selling at trink but they have become a main line I carry at all times! Yes, thats right, my incredible Oma is 92 & beading! She loves it & so do I- I only hope that I will be so lucky to still be doing what I love at her age!

Happy Birthday Oma, I love you!

spring~summer 2012

I am so excited to introduce my Spring/Summer 2012 collection to you! Influenced as always by nature, love & magic, this collection has an even more dreamy feel than previous seasons- created with the use of soft colors and golden undertones, pieces can be easily worn with jeans & a tee or with your favorite dress, even for bridal. The collection is less about formality, more about personal style. If you love feathers, wear feathers- whether it be to go for a walk in the park or a walk down the isle..

trink at Shri Yoga!!

I am very pleased to inform you that my new favorite place is the latest hotspot selling trink jewels!
I have been practicing yoga now with the lovely ladies Mona & Barrie at Shri since the beginning of the summer and I have to say, not only am I feeling gradually stronger and more flexible but I'm also happier. The heart opening take on yoga (anusara) that is taught at this new Westmount studio is transforming to not only the body but to the spirit as well. Each and every class is started off with a word from the teacher that links into the goal behind the day's practice- whether relating to a yogic philosophy or a holiday in a given culture's calendar, their lesson always seems to feel like it is directed right at how I am feeling in that moment!! I kid you not- there is something magical happening there and I simply cannot get enough!

So how does the jewelry fit in?
trink's path has split. Not only does trink offer a line of bridal jewelry but now a new line of yoga & dance inspired jewels as well! The concept is based on a few principles;
*flexibility:
so jewels can be worn comfortably & multiple ways while you practice yoga (or dance...)
*color: based on the chakra colors referred to in ayervedic therapies
*symbolism: malas (traditional prayer/buddha beads) made in crystal and symbolic shapes such as circles, stars & lotus flowers are incorporated

And lastly, trink's famous one-size-fits-all daisy ring has a fitting new name...the lotus!

But don't go just for the jewels, take a class! And I promise you will be glad you did:)

fall~winter 2011/12

And so the time has finally come for me to launch trink's fall~winter 2011/12 collection! The collection is called *snowflower* and has been given this name because of all of the white & crystal flowers that it is made up of, which make me think of snowflakes- and because for as long as I can remember, that is the name that was given to snowflakes by one of my most favorite of people. And, inspired by the whimsy & surreal ideals of love that dance inside my head, the jewels came to be~
